Born in Giovinazzo, Bari, where she undertook her musical studies.

In 1988 she won the A.S.L.I.C.O. competition in Milan and made her debut at the Teatro Olimpico of Vicenza as the protagonist of Cavalli's "La Calisto", recorded   on CD.

In 1990 she was finalist of the "Maria Callas" International Contest and in 1991 she won the "Gioachino Rossini" International Competition of Schwetzingen (Germany).

Maria Pia Piscitelli has performed the following roles:

"Matrimonio Segreto" by Cimarosa (Elisetta ) at the Ravena Festival.

Maria in "Guglielmo Ratcliff" by P. Mascagni at the Teatro Grande of Livorno, in Lucca and at the Teatro Sociale of Mantova.

The role of Isabella in Donizetti's "Olivo e Pasquale" at the Globe Theatre in Tokyo and at the Teatro Sociale of Como, Italy.

"Maria Stuarda" (Maria ) at the Monte Carlo Opera House (Dir. Pido), at the Theatre of Wiesbaden and the Sferisterio of Macerata (Italy).

At the Vienna Konzerthaus she ha performed the role of the Regina in " Una Cosa Rara" by Martín y Soler (under the conduction of Jordi Savall).

Liù in Puccini's "Turandot" in the opera season of the Teatro Petruzzelli of Bari.

Vitellia in Mozart 's "La clemenza di Tito" at the Klagenfurt Stadt Theater and in Graz (Austria).

"Maddalena" by S. Prokofiev at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia of Rome.

At the San Francisco Opera, Maria Pia sung the part of Donna Elvira in Mozart's "Don Giovanni".
