
28 year-old Pérez-Sierra is one of the most promising conductors of his generation. He studied piano with José Ferrándiz, a Claudio Arrau's disciple. After that, he undertook studies of musical virtuosity and phenomenology with José Cruzado and got his higher degree as a professor as early as 16 years old.
In 2002 he met Gabriele Ferro, who would accept him as his pupil and assistant from that year on. He has worked at theatres such as the San Carlo of Naples, the Massimo of Palermo and the Real of Madrid.
Pérez-Sierra has attended a Masterclasses given by Colin Metters, teacher at the Royal Academy of London, and by Gianluigi Gelmetti, at the Accademia Chigiana of Siena. Soon after that, he began a close collaboration with Alberto Zedda, to whom he has assisted assiduously since 2004.
At only 22 years old, he founded the International Orchestra of Young Artists, with which he made his debut in Madrid. After that, he was asked to conduct several concerts with the Symphonic Orchestra of Galicia in 2005 and 2006. In 2006 he conducted Il viaggio a Reims at the Rossini Opera Festival of Pesaro, accompanied by the orchestra of the Teatro Comunale of Bologna. He became the youngest conductor in the history of the Festival and reaped a unanimous success both of audience and critics.
During the last years, Pérez Sierra has conducted in important theatres such as the Teatro de la Zarzuela ( El rey que rabió and La Bruja ), Teatro Campoamor of Oviedo ( El rey que rabió, Gavilanes and La Bruja ), the Teatro Gayarre ( La Traviata ) and the Baluarte Auditorium ( La Bruja ) of Pamplona, Teatre Principal of Palma of Majorca ( Norma ), the Centro de Artes Escénicas of Salamanca ( El rey que rabió ), as well as several lyric galas at the Festival de Amigos de la Ópera in La Coruña and the Festival of Toledo.
He has worked with the finest orchestras, such as the Madrid Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Community of Madrid, the Galicia Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of Castile and León, the Oviedo Philharmonia, the Oviedo Philharmonia Young Orchestra, the Vizcaya Symphony Orchestra, the Navarra Symphony Orchestra, the Baleares Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of Villena (Alicante) and the Spain Orchestra da Camera.
Along with the lyric, Pérez Sierra has had a brilliant symphonic career, being contemporary music an important part of his repertoire. He has conducted the world's premiere of Octavio Vázquez's concert for piano and orchestra accompanied by the Galicia Symphony Orchestra.
He has just made his debut at the Palau de les Arts of Valencia with a new staging of El rey que rabió -a zarzuela which he has conducted at the Teatro de la Zarzuela of Madrid, in Salamanca and Oviedo; In this latter city he has recently conducted Pan y Toros; La tabernera del puerto at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid and Santander; La scala di seta at the Palau de las Arts of Valencia; L'italiana in Algeri in Las Palmas.
His upcoming engagements include Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Genova; L'elisir d'amore at the Teatro Campoamor of Oviedo and in ABAO of Bilbao; Maler's 4ª Sinfonia in Madrid.
